Based off the comments, I tried sending an email using my blackberry’s hotspot and it worked. I think it has something to do with the type of wifi system. I am in France in a small hotel so it could be something based off that. Moreover when I used the gmail app all was fine too. I noticed, that the moment I synchronized the gmail accounts, all smtp servers were again listed the same way as before. I have tried TB5 cables direct to MBP, TB4 cables direct to MBP, TB5 cables to a TB5 dock, TB4 cables to a TB4 dock.

I strongly recommend Because they specialize in Macs everything they sell is designed to work. Don’t focus on saving a couple of bucks, focus on getting the correct solution for your specific needs. As you have not stated what you needs are for additional storage it is difficult to help you any further.

- I have now bought a Thunderbolt dock (Targus DOCK310 DV4K) and within these 3 days of testing all problems have disappeared.
- Thank you for the original and very thorough post.

I have tried Resetting everything……NVIDIA, PR, sometimes it works for once -goes to sleep no recognition when it wakes. You need to plug one of your monitors directly into the MacBook – or to get a better dock. I have now bought a Thunderbolt dock (Targus DOCK310 DV4K) and within these 3 days of testing all problems have disappeared. I have two Unisynks, one for each display and connected to USB-C and still really often I face problems that screens drops off etc. I bought another Unisync dock for the other monitor and run those through separate Unisync docks to USB-C ports on the M4.
One for each googlemail account I have listed (2 for me, 2 for my kids – 3 googlemail.com 1 gmail.com). Very frustrated, was dealing with the same exact issue. Thank you for the original and very thorough post. Tried everything I found and to confirm—the only thing that worked—mail will send on cellular network.
- There shouldn’t be any complications from using two Apple IDs unless you need to share data between the two IDs.
- I read something about deleting all google accounts and synching the working accounts from my Mac using iTunes, so I tried that.
- In the previous screen, there is an option to choose alternative smtp servers, the first option being smtp.gmail.com.

They work just fine on my Macbook Pro M1 Max. Oh then this is sonething to be decided before purchase. Keep in mind anything internal will be more effective (faster) for demanding applications (music or video production and editing for instance). Therefore, go with a 1 or even 2tb at least if this is your case.
I used my computer with another HDMI cable connected to a projector and it worked great. My new Macbook PRO M4 STOPPED recognizing my external Monitor. Worked for the past 2 months with no problems. And if you were listening intently, readers told you can’t run TWO displays on a USB-C Dock. Starting a new discussion will allow Readers to think hard about your exact situation and address the exact circumstances you are facing.
I looked over at various Apple Support discussions as well as Google product forums and Gmail discussions. No one seems to have any clue as to this problem. I cannot send Gmails via by the default Mail app in iOS7. Now, two days later, I looked at the smtp list again, an to my surprise, another smtp server (one I had once created) was now listed as my primary server for 1 of my googlemail accounts! /The gmail account still has the ‘invented’ Gmail SMPT server listed. The Primary SMTP server options cannot be changed, it seems.
Unnecessary updates which introduce bugs.
Not cheap however very fast and Macsales.com specializes in Macs so if/when support is needed you can be assured they will be there to assist. It also means that when these devices were designed they were designed for Mac users. I don’t work for them, I am just a satisfied longtime customer.
Go to the one you don’t want active and toggle off Turn on This Line. In order to support up to TWO unique displays on ONE cable out of a Mac, the PORT, the cable, and the first device (Dock or Display) must all be genuine ThunderBolt. If you did not immediately find your solution by reading through the existing postings, you likely do not have “exactly the same problem” and need to explain from the beginning.

That will keep your work related information separate from your personal information. There shouldn’t be any complications from using two Apple IDs unless you need to share data between the two IDs. You can try setting up Family Sharing between the IDs if you want to be able to share purchases made with the IDs. Follow the instructions in Add and manage email aliases for iCloud Mail on iCloud.com to create up to three alias addresses.
Only curious because it could it be a setting my office has for the WiFi here or is it consistent with every account. Same thing with my manually created gmail account (following the instructions above). No entry in an outbox, no email in the receiving inboxes. Some 20 minutes later, one of my test email came through. Think there is still some problem left to solve. There have been some issue with M4 and portable, Bus-powered displays, but they simply DO NOT APPLY to your situation.
Support
Once I turned off my wi-fi, Mail app in iOS7 sent out my gmail. We’d all appreciate it if you guys got along better. Curious if when your account started to work?
If you wait for a software update to correct something that has been so badly mis-diagnosed by Apple support, you will wait a VERY long time. When you create a new group message (MMS group) on iPhone, you can add multiple contacts to it. However, once the group message is created and you’re already in a conversation thread with those contacts, you can’t directly add more contacts to that existing thread. I assume this is an additional sim or eSIM. But USB-C cables have only half as many data pathways, and can’t support two modern displays on a Mac. That supports up to two external displays, But NOT over ONE USB-C cable out of the Mac.
Unfortunately for these discussions, too many of the add-on “security” apps available for various platforms can themselves contain “surprises” including malware-ish behaviors.
My 2017 MacBook Pro worked great with the external monitor. I am really sorry you got an Apple additional detail on present and future values support representative who was badly trained and does not have a deep undertaking of display issues. The correct information has been posted above. My guess is that this dock uses the equivalent of DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining to drive the second HDMI output. The other possibility is that it uses a second-class workaround like DisplayLInk to do so – which would require the installation of a special driver and the compromises that come with that. There is no login name available for this primary server and all fields are greyed out as described.
Look for a Thunderbolt dock or hub that supports connection of two displays – but be wary of any that promise to support more than that. The default GMail SMTP Server, that is listed as the primary server, was never created by me. So, if you want to include another contact in the conversation, you have to create a new group message (MMS group) that includes all the existing members plus the new contact you want to add. Essentially, you’re starting a new group chat with the same people as the existing thread plus the additional contact. I also have the same issue as you mentioned ealier and the same exact two monitors. I have an M4 Pro Macbook Pro – and got them to work for a whole week (both at 120hz 4K), but now suddenly they refuse to work again.
